“We have this morning arrested a prime suspect,” Directorate of Criminal Investigations head Mohamed Amin told reporters.
“We are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life.”
Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja announced the arrest of the 33-year-old suspect around 3am local time. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the national police service conducted the operation. #KenyaSerialKiller
He reported that authorities have recovered nine bodies so far, and they will conduct autopsies on the victims on July 15.
Since July 12, authorities have recovered mutilated and dismembered bodies, found trussed in plastic bags, from the rubbish heap in Mukuru slum area in the south of the capital, horrifying the country.
On July 14, police reported that they had recovered eight bodies, all of which were women.
