During the opening statements of Young Dolph’s murder trial on September 23, 2024, prosecutors alleged that Big Jook, brother of rapper Yo Gotti, placed a $100,000 hit on Dolph. According to Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman, Big Jook orchestrated the hit due to tensions between Dolph and Yo Gotti’s CMG camp. “Big Jook…put out a hit, $100,000 to whoever kills Dolph,” Hagerman told the court. Prosecutors linked Big Jook to suspects Cornelius Smith and Justin Johnson, accused of carrying out the murder.

Witnesses began taking the stand, including Dolph’s sister and his head of security. Surveillance footage revealed that Dolph’s security team wasn’t present at the time of his death, leaving only his brother at the scene. Hagerman emphasized past conflicts between Dolph and CMG as contributing factors to the hit.

In response to the trial, Ralo, one of Dolph’s close friends, voiced his anger on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Fu*k every n*g*a that’s on [trial] for Young Dolph.”

Young Dolph, whose real name was Adolph Thornton Jr., was shot and killed at Makeda’s Homemade Cookies in Memphis in November 2021. The trial will continue as more details about the case emerge

Clearly, these developments have raised questions about the case’s future and its impact on the hip-hop community.
