In Bilbao, located in northwestern Spain, April typically brings showers, but yesterday, residents defied the norm by flocking to the beach amidst temperatures soaring up to 10°C above average. Similarly, near Lisbon, Portuguese beachgoers enjoyed the sunshine as temperatures climbed to a high of 29°C. Transitioning from their daily routines, Iberians hit beaches where they can enjoy the cool sea breeze and refreshing waters.

“Temperatures, both on today and tomorrow, will be between 5°C and 10°C higher than normal in much of the country, and between 10°C and 15°C (higher) in the northern third of the peninsula and the Canary Islands,” Aemet said in a post on the social media site X.

Aemet reported that April saw temperatures typically reserved for summer months. Similarly, Portugal experienced unseasonably warm weather, as noted by the weather agency Ipma. Transitioning to the central region of Santarem, temperatures were forecasted to reach 31°C. However, Aemet cautioned that temperatures would decrease next week, particularly in northern Spain.
