Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was helped off the field after suffering an apparent lower leg injury with six seconds remaining in his team’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday in São Paulo, Brazil. #JordanLoveInjury
Love, attempting to pass to a teammate, was hit by two Eagles defenders and brought to the ground. He stayed on the field, writhing in pain. Team doctors examined him, and he was helped to the sideline, not reentering the game.
Green Bay backup quarterback Malik Willis, who joined the team in late August, replaced Love for the final two plays. He threw an incomplete pass and was then sacked, ending the game.
Love was 17-for-34 passing for 260 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur, asked about the severity of Love’s injury after the game, said “I don’t know.”
In July, Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract to stay with the Packers through the 2028 season. The deal also included a record $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in new full guarantees, reported ESPN.
Love, who played sparingly his first two seasons in Green Bay, thrived in his first full season as a starter last year.
Last season, the 25-year-old started all 17 games, throwing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and earning a 96.1 passer rating. He finished the final eight games with a 6-2 record, throwing 18 touchdowns and only one interception. His performance led the Packers to the postseason.
