CAIRO (Reuters) – Hamas senior official Sami Abu Zuhri said Netanyahu’s speech to the U.S. Congress indicates he does not seek a ceasefire deal. Abu Zuhri believes this stance reflects Israel’s unwillingness to end the conflict. Consequently, this stance signals a strong resistance to the Netanyahu ceasefire deal, which was anticipated to bring resolution. #NetanyahuCeasefireDeal
Netanyahu delivered a record fourth speech to a joint meeting of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. He discussed the need for a Middle Eastern security alliance to counter Iran.
“Netanyahu’s speech was full of lies and it will not succeed in covering up for the failure and defeat in the face of the resistance to cover up for the crimes of the war of genocide his army is committing against the people of Gaza,” Abu Zuhri said in an interview.
He added that any alliance with Israel by any party would be “treason to the blood of martyrs.”
Netanyahu stated that Israel does not plan to resettle Gaza. He also said that Palestinians who do not seek to destroy Israel should govern the enclave after the conflict with Hamas.
The Palestinian president’s spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, responded, “The Palestinian people alone decide who will rule them.”
He added that establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only solution for security and stability. #NetanyahuCeasefireDeal
Furthermore, Zuhri argued that Netanyahu’s rhetoric highlights his administration’s reluctance to pursue a ceasefire actively. This development raises concerns about the future of the Netanyahu ceasefire deal and the broader peace process.
