The source revealed that Trump and Putin had a conversation in recent days. Additionally, Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Wednesday. Trump has criticized the scale of US support for Ukraine, promising to end the conflict swiftly but without detailing his plan.

Ukraine’s foreign ministry stated they were not informed in advance about Trump’s call with Putin. Consequently, they could neither endorse nor oppose it.

“We do not comment on private calls between President Trump and other world leaders,” said Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director, when asked about the phone call, which was first reported by The Washington Post.

The Russian embassy in Washington did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Republican Donald Trump will assume office on January 20 after defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 presidential election. The White House announced that President Joe Biden invited Trump to the Oval Office on Wednesday.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated on Sunday that Biden’s main message would emphasize a peaceful transfer of power. Additionally, he plans to discuss developments in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East with Trump.

“President Biden will have the opportunity over the next 70 days to make the case to the Congress and to the incoming administration that the United States should not walk away from Ukraine, that walking away from Ukraine means more instability in Europe,” Sullivan told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” show.

Sullivan’s remarks followed Ukraine’s drone assault on Moscow on Sunday, which involved at least 34 drones. It marked the largest drone attack on the Russian capital since the war began.

When questioned about whether Biden would request Congress to approve additional funding for Ukraine, Sullivan chose not to comment. #TrumpPutinUkraineTalks

“I’m not here to put forward a specific legislative proposal. President Biden will make the case that we do need ongoing resources for Ukraine beyond the end of his term,” Sullivan said.

Potential Impact of Trump Putin Ukraine Talks on Future Diplomacy

Furthermore, Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Zelenskiy, signaling his interest in resolving the conflict. However, Trump has criticized extensive U.S. support for Kyiv. He continues to emphasize his plan to end the war swiftly, though he hasn’t detailed how. Clearly, these Trump Putin Ukraine talks could shape diplomatic strategies moving forward.
