After Tagovailoa led Miami to a playoff appearance last season, the Dolphins were hoping to build upon that in 2024 behind a speedy offense that Tagovailoa ran well. Instead, it’s been a rough start to the season for Miami, which is 1-2 after a Week 3 loss to Seattle.
As he’s been recovering from his concussion, there’s been various updates on when fans can expect to see Tagovailoa again.
Ahead of Miami’s matchup with Tennessee on Monday night, here’s what to know about the status of Tagovailoa’s recovery timeline and the Dolphins’ schedule this season.
Will Tua Tagovailoa Miss the Season?
There isn’t an exact indication of when Tagovailoa could return, but the Dolphins quarterback remains focused on his return to the field, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter
Schefter joined the Pat McAfee show on Friday and said that Tagovailoa has continued meeting with doctors and that it would “take somebody stepping in” for the quarterback to consider giving up football.
Based on Schefter’s reporting, Tagovailoa is aiming to eventually keep playing.
After his head injury, some fans, media members and NFL figures urged Tagovailoa to consider retirement with that being his third concussion. However, Miami placed Tagovailoa on IR on Sept. 17, making him first eligible to return in Week 8 vs. the Cardinals. #TuaTagovailoaReturn
