The US Senate has voted overwhelmingly to provide a $ 95.3 billion aid package to Ukraine and Israel and to strengthen the security of America and its allies in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan. The bill passed on Tuesday by the House of Representatives earlier now heads to the White House for President Joe Biden to sign it into law.
Biden stated he would sign the bill into law promptly upon receiving it tomorrow. He aims to address the American people and start sending aid to Ukraine this week.
The urgency is evident, especially for Ukraine, grappling with relentless Russian bombardment. Additionally, Israel recently confronted unprecedented assaults from Iran. Moreover, refugees and those affected by conflicts and natural disasters worldwide, including in Gaza, Sudan, and Haiti.
The bill broadly has four parts: First, a $ 60.8 billion Ukraine aid measure, a $ 26.4 billion bill for Israel and humanitarian relief, a $ 8.1 billion package for Taiwan and other Indo-Pacific region allies and a “sidecar” bill dealing with issues ranging from TikTok to frozen Russian assets.
